For the last seven years, CMF missionaries have ministered in the slum communities of Kenya’s capital city of Nairobi. The team uses Community Health Evangelism (CHE), a proven program through local churches that assists the urban poor in resolving their problems through available resources, training, microenterprise, optimism, and faith. An empowered Church brings the community together and shares Christ, which results in transformed lives. Missionaries partner with the Mathare Family Hope Center (MFHC), which serves its community by providing education, clothing, and adequate nutrition to the poorest children in the village. There is a strong CHE program in place, which includes training of the CHE evangelists, HIV/AIDS awareness, education, and care for those living with the disease, and a microenterprise program.

Last year, CMF launched a church-based child sponsorship program as a way for churches stirred by the poverty and toll of the AIDS pandemic in Kenya to help the children who attend the Hope Center schools. FAME (Fellowship of Associates of Medical Evangelism) recently joined CMF's efforts as a medical partner in Nairobi. FAME provides primary care and HIV/AIDS clinics, medicines and supplies, and hands-on care through short-term mission teams for all of the Hope Partnership communities.

Currently, there are eight churches participating in the Hope Partnership child sponsorship program; they sponsor 1,923 children. Many more children need our help! To learn more, visit the Hope Partnership website.
